Thiene Castle, also known as Castello di Thiene or Porto Colleoni Castle, is a stunning 15th-century architectural gem located in the heart of Thiene, near Vicenza, Italy. It’s not just a castle—it’s a rare hybrid of a Gothic residence and a Venetian villa, making it a cornerstone in the evolution of Veneto’s noble architecture.

Built in the late 1400s by the Porto family, the castle has passed through several noble lineages, including the Colleoni family, before becoming the residence of the Counts of Thiene. It blends the fortified features of a castle with the elegance of a Venetian “casa-fondaco”—a home that also served as a warehouse and trading space The interiors boast frescoes by Giambattista Zelotti and Gianantonio Fasolo, pupils of Paolo Veronese, depicting scenes from Roman history narrated by Livy.
