Blended Retirement System and Retirement Brief

Join us as we welcome the DA's retirement services officer, Mr. Mark Overberg, as he comes to tell you more about retirement. These briefs are for all active duty who have been in the military for less than 12 years and Soldiers that are eligible to retire within two years or less. Each session will include a brief and allow for questions and answers.

Sessions include:

• 9-10:30 a.m. - Blended Retirement Brief Training
• 1-2:30 p.m. - Blended Retirement Brief Training
• 2:30-4 p.m. - Eighteen plus years of service brief (retiring Soldiers)

The FY16 NDAA directed the implementation of a new blended military retirement system. This system went into effect on January 1, 2018. Active component members with fewer than 12 years of service and reserve component members with fewer than 4,320 points as of December 31, 2017 are able to choose to opt-in to the blended retirement system (BRS) if they choose. The opt-in window started on January 1, 2018 and will concluded on December 31, 2018.
