Experience a piece of history with Outdoor Recreation!

Note: This event has already passed.

Enjoy the biannual medieval chess match where real people are used as the chess pieces! Ancient documents and the locals of Marostica tell a fantastic story of the origins of this biannual medieval chess game. Rinaldo d'Angarano and Vieri da Vallonara both fell in love with the daughter of Taddeo Parisio, the town governor. Parisio forbid the men to joust and instead suggested a game of wits - chess. Both men were experts at the game and fought for the lady's hand. Parisio decided to promise the hand of his own sister to the man who lost the tournament.

The Human Chess Game represents the most spectacular event of Marostica's history. The show last 3 hours with a 20 minute break.
