Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held in Munich that lasts from late September to the first week of October. The highlight of Germany’s annual event calendar, Oktoberfest is one of the most famous events in Germany as well as one of the biggest and most famous festivals in the world. Over five million people attend the festival every year, consuming over seven million liters of beer on average. Traditional Bavarian foods — including würstl (sausage), brezel (pretzel), käsespätzle (cheese noodles) and sauerkraut — are also an important part of the celebration. The beer served at Oktoberfest must be at least 6% alcohol and have been brewed within the Munich city limits!
