The Vicenza Military Community will conduct our annual MWR 9/11 Solidarity Run to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks, recognize the sacrifices of fire and rescue personnel, and strengthen community solidarity and esprit de corps.

The primary event is a 5-kilometer memorial run. Military teams and units are encouraged to participate as part of morning physical training.

Event Timeline:

  • 0630: Music begins and the formal ceremony starts
    • Playing of the US National Anthem Followed by the Italian National Anthem
    • Remarks by the Commanding General, Garrison Commander, or designated representative.
    • Wreath laying by the chaplain and command representative.
    • Invocation by the chaplain.
  • 0650: The 5-kilometer memorial run begins.
  • 0800: Refreshments are provided by supporting organizations.

Location Run Begins: Hoekstra Field (Caserma Ederle)

Open to: The entire USAG Italy Community
