Trekking with Chiara: Castegnero & The Berici Hills

Enjoy this hiking trip with Outdoor Rec in the Berici Hills near Castegnero.

#

We’ll explore one of the most fascinating corners of the Colli Berici, starting from Castegnero and venturing into a landscape shaped by ancient geology, gentle hills, and sweeping views. This hike blends panoramic ridgelines with the mysterious charm of the “covoli”, natural limestone cavities that have sheltered people, animals, and stories for centuries.

What to Expect:

Our route winds through typical Berici vegetation, where Mediterranean influences meet woodland shade. As we ascend toward the viewpoints, the landscape opens to reveal broad vistas over the plain and the surrounding hills. Along the way, we’ll visit some of the area’s characteristic covoli, discovering their unique atmosphere and the natural processes that formed them.

The pace will be relaxed and enjoyable, making this outing perfect for anyone who loves varied terrain, cultural curiosities, and the quiet beauty of the Berici Hills.

What to Expect:

  • A guided hike through rolling Berici landscapes
  • Visits to characteristic covoli and limestone formations
  • Panoramic viewpoints overlooking the surrounding countryside
  • A moderate route suitable for most hikers
  • A friendly, welcoming group atmosphere with time for breaks and photos

Important Note:

The itinerary may undergo unplanned changes due to weather conditions or other factors beyond our control. Any adjustments will always prioritize participant safety and comfort.
