How do I sign my child up for an after school youth program?
Youth may pick up a CYS Youth Program Registration & Sponsor Consent packet at the Youth Center on Villaggio or Teen Center on Ederle or at Parent Central Services. Parents must complete the packet and return to Parent Central Services (Ederle, Bldg. 108) for processing.
Once registered, youth will be able to enroll for specific trip schedules, spring break trips, summer camps, etc. Most trips and activities can be booked online through Webtracor in person at Parent Central Services Office, Bldg. 108, Davis Soldier & Family Readiness Center.
What clubs are offered?
The Villaggio Youth Center offers Smart Girls, a Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) club aimed at empowering and educating middle school females. Another BGCA club, Torch Club, operates at the center and aims to instill leadership, citizenship, and community service in the lives of our youth. The Youth Center also has a thriving cooking club that takes place in our full demo kitchen. A photography club is also present at the Youth Center. The Teen Center operates a Keystone Club, also part of the BGCA, in conjunction with Vicenza High School’s student council and upholds the same values as the Torch Club.
How do I find a sponsor for my child when moving to Vicenza?
The Youth Program takes part in the Youth Sponsorship Program which pairs up incoming youth with a peer of a similar age. They can communicate in advance so the incoming youth knows someone on the first day of school or they can be matched once the incoming youth arrives on the garrison. Outbound youth can be paired with a sponsor at their gaining duty station, too. Contact the Youth Program Director for more information at DSN: 646-4430 or commercial: +39 0444-71-4430.
I want my child to go to the Youth Center after school and stay there until I pick him/her up. Can you force my child to stay there?
Youth who are in sixth grade and above are able to sign themselves into and out of the Youth Center at any time. However, we understand that parents of some of our younger participants are concerned about their whereabouts after school. We do our best to work with parents and remind youth of their parents’ wishes after school.
Are food and snacked provided to youth in the centers?
The Youth Program offers free snacks to participants in accordance with CYS health and nutrition standards. The centers use an a la carte menu and youth are allowed to choose healthy and less healthy snack options that fall within our nutritional guidance. Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the center because we want to ensure all food and beverages are within the guidelines and are not allergy hazards.
