Date: Aug 12, 5 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Outdoor Recreation is offering you the chance to wander the streets of a small Etruscan settlement in San Gimignano. This town stands 334 meters above sea level and its history dates back to the 10th century. A lively town in the middle ages, San Gimignano served as an urban center for the area. This town's beautiful medieval architecture will send you back in time.
After arriving, we will link up with our tour guide for the 3-hour walking tour. We'll walk on the old Francigena to first visit Piazza della Cisterna, then on to Porta San Matteo. The Church of St. Agostino is a must-see in the area, with frescoes and paintings from different ages. From there we'll walk to the Church of San Jacopo which was at one time attended by the Knights of the Templar — we'll view this church from the outside. From there we will move on to the Fortress of Montestaffoli. We'll walk by the former convent of St. Domenico (outside) to enjoy the panoramic views of the area and see the House of Santa Fina (outside).
